Where does your wood come from?
The majority of our wood is sourced through timber merchants from sustainably managed woodland operations. Also a large amount of our wood is arising's from tree surgery work, as we work closely with a very well established tree surgery company from the midlands.

Moisture content. The moisture content is how “dry” a log is, it is measured in a percentage. Seasoned firewood should be between 25%-30%, a lower moisture content can be achieved by Kiln Drying but this does come at a premium. Unseasoned firewood is not suitable for burning straight away but is a cheaper alternative if you have a suitable space to store it and season it yourself.

Hardwood or softwood? It depends on the exact species of wood you are comparing, but hardwood is more dense than softwood, so you'll find hardwood burns for longer than softwood. Seasoned softwood logs are perfect for getting instant heat as they burn straight away. Hardwood takes that little bit longer to burn, but when it does, your fire will burn for hours! That's why we recommend burning the two types of wood together - but always make sure they're both fully seasoned and ready to burn! Never burn wet logs!
